The Aberdeen Catholic School System follows state law (13-28-7.1) and therefore requires as policy that absent the application of an exemption recognized by state and federal law all children attending the Catholic Schools within the Diocese of Sioux Falls or participating in Catholic school sponsored extra-curricular activities be vaccinated against a wide variety of diseases. It should be noted that the state law exemption for religious doctrine does not apply to the Roman Catholic Church, which has no doctrine against vaccinations. Therefore, students who attend Aberdeen Catholic Schools or participate in Catholic school sponsored extra-curricular activities are required to receive all vaccines unless the child is eligible to claim an exemption recognized by state and federal law.
