Roncalli Elementary School
An uplifting elementary school experience focused on Catholic values.
More than anything, young students need a solid foundation to prepare them for what lies ahead. A base of belief that helps them become both outstanding citizens and adherents of God’s word.
Our positive, prayerful experience allows students to develop their relationship with Jesus while attaining the academic building blocks they’ll need to succeed in tomorrow’s world.
Welcome to Roncalli Elementary, where we’re proud to guide the next generation of Catholic leaders.

Small Classes, Big Achievement.
At Roncalli, academics are designed to help prepare students for an ever-changing world while discovering their own God-given talents.
- Every child is capable of learning.
- A teacher should be a guide and mentor.
- Kids need a safe environment to develop their skills.
- Students must have access to hands-on activities.
- Technology should enhance and support instruction.
- Catholic teachings should permeate all academic areas.
Defined by Faith
We help faith come alive in our students by providing them with daily experiences and opportunities to deepen their faith and prayer life. Our mission is to guide them towards developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that becomes their foundation for missionary discipleship throughout their lives. Roncalli is blessed by the regular presence of Priests in the school. They have scheduled time in classrooms once a week, covering various important topics. The Priests also join us for recess, lunch, or just to walk down the hallways with students.
Roncalli believes in providing education focused on the principles of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with a couple needed improvements. We’ve heavily invested in STREAM, a curriculum that teaches the essential STEM disciplines and adds Religion and Arts. To us, this modification leads to well-rounded students and the proper focus on God.
Roncalli is the only PreK-12th STEM certified school in the state of South Dakota. All of our STREAM teachers are certified with a 12 to 15 credit course on teaching student led classes. To further assist students in their learning, we have added Smart Labs in both the Elementary and High School. Smart Labs are great for Project-Based Learning among the students.
There is a wide range of activities available to elementary students. Options include:
- Lego League
- Golden Rule Crew
- Saint Spotlight
- Invention Convention
- Jr. Docent Program for the Dakotah Prairie Museum
- Elementary Choir
- Elementary Festival Choir
