     I.  Course Objectives
  • Identify the impact of entrepreneurs and small business today.
  • Develop good skills for writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Describe the functions of business in a market economy and the role government plays.
  • Understand how to write a business plan and the importance of a business plan.
  • Learn to prepare basic financial statements.
  • Learn about the Small Business Administration.
  • Learn how to advertise and promote businesses,

    II.  Plan of Study

     1st Quarter

  • Discuss entrepreneurs and small business owners.
  • Work on writing, speaking and listening skills.
  • Discuss market economies
  • Begin working on business plan

     2nd Quarter

  • Continue working on business plan
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Discuss the Small Business Administration
  • Advertise and promote business.

  III.  Procedure for Evaluation of Student Progress

         Grades will be based on the total number of points earned through daily tasks, quizzes, tests, projects, and group participation.

   IV.  Standards for Completion

           A=93-100  B=85-92  C=77-84  D=69-76  F=Below 69
