Biography

I am a native of Ipswich, SD and graduated from with the Bi-Centennial class of 1976!  I then attended NSU in Aberdeen, graduating in May of 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education, with a Social Science Major and a Physical Education Minor. 

On August 2nd 1980 I married the beautiful Miss Sandy Heinz. We were blessed with two children.  Lindsey attends NSU planning to be a music teacher and Logan is a junior at Roncalli.  In June of 2006 the good Lord took Sandy to be with him in Heaven.

I began teaching and coaching in Faulkton, SD and spent five years there working with some outstanding people.

In 1985 I was hired by the Aberdeen Catholic School System and have had the pleasure of being part of that staff for the past twenty three years.

In my spare time, when I have it, I enjoy reading, walking & biking, listening to music & when possible getting to some of those "Old Time Rock N' Roll" concerts.

I am especially proud of all our athletes who have worked so hard over the years developing our football and track programs.  In 2005 & again in 2006 they were rewarded with winning Class 11B State Championships in football.  Also, in 2006 the boys were State A Champions in Track & Field and the boys and girls nabbed their second State Combined Championship.

I was introduced to Jill Bourland in the summer of 2007 and after finding that we had much in common and spending a great deal of time together, I asked her to marry me on January 1st, 2008, she said yes! Jill brings three daughters to our family.  Britni, who is married to Kevin Opp and recently gave birth to the first grandson of the family.  Lauren who is married to Joshua Nikolas and their precious new daughter Eliyah.  Brooke is 18 and still at home with Jill.  This next chapter in life should be very interesting and exciting!
