Jr/Sr High Band
Concert Band

Months/Dates/Times the activity takes place: Mid-November -
May. High School Concert Band rehearses during first hour and Junior
High Concert Band rehearses during second hour. Major performances
are the Christmas Concert, Music in Our Schools Concert and the Pop's
Concert. Additionally, the high school concert band performs at Region
IV Solo/Ensemble Contest and also Region IV Large Group Contest.
The junior high concert band's extra performance is the Redfield Music
Solo/ Band Contest.
Maximum number of participants: Unlimited
How membership/participation is determined: All band members
participate in this group.
Special restrictions: Must play musical instrument used in concert
band.

Marching Band
Director Name: Kimberly Carda
Months/Dates/Times the activity takes place: August - October.
Practice daily during first hour. Occasional rehearsals only as needed
will begin prior to the start of the school day. Performances are the
Gypsy Day parade (Saturday in September) and the Lake Region Marching
Band Festival (Friday in October).
Maximum number of participants: Unlimited
How membership/participation is determined: All band members
participate in the group.
Special restrictions: Must play musical instrument used in the marching
band.
Any costs associated with activity: Must purchase a pair of white
shoes for performances.

Pep Band
Director: Kimberly Carda
Months/Dates/Times the activity takes place: August - March. rehearsals are daily from October - mid-November during first hour. Occasional rehearsals occur during concert band first hour throughout the
rest of the year. Performances are at various football games, girls and
boys basketball games, wrestling matches and volleyball contests. A
complete schedule is given to all band members on the first day of
school. When possible, performances are limited to once per week.

Flag Corps
Director: Kimberly Carda
Months/Dates/Times the activity takes place: August - October. Students
are given a videotape of the routine and a cassette tape of the music and are
expected to learn the majority of the routine from the video. Prior to the start of
school, there are various scheduled practices to polish the routine. However, most
of the work is done on the student's own time. Once school starts, practices are
daily during first hour. Performances are the Gypsy Day parade (Saturday in
September) and the Whetstone Valley Marching Band Festival (Friday in October).
Maximum number of participants: 6 - 7
How membership/participation is determined: Solid rhythmic ability is
required. Band members with dance experience are given priority. Selection to
the flag corps is also determined by the marching band instrumentation.

Any costs associated with activity: Purchase flag corps white shoes.
Special considerations: Strong work ethic and commitment outside of
the regular school day is essential.
